All Hallow’s Read

30 October, 2012

Tomorrow is Hallowe’en aka All Hallow’s Eve and I hope y’all are planning something spookay! Since I’ve been on a loose quest to find a book that will scare the pants off me, I wanted to be a part of All Hallow’s Read. Do click on the link and see what the lovely Neil Gaiman has to say (just do it anyway since it’s Neil Gaiman.)

Here in the book blog world, the lovely Nymeth and Amy organised an All Hallow’s Read Book Swap and see what I received!

Bookmarks, a postcard, pumpkin chocolate, Hallowe’eny nail polish in black and orange and two books. And when I unwrapped the books, I found they were two titles I’ve been meaning to get but haven’t yet.

The Birds and Other Stories by Daphne du Maurier (old Daffers can’t do any wrong in my book) and The Greatcoat by Helen Dunmore. They certainly look creepy…

I’m still not sure who sent me my lovely parcel so do give me a shout so that I can thank you properly.

I sent Iris Joan Aiken’s The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, one of my favourite gothic tales from my childhood which sparked my interest in all things dark. Do also check out what titles we’ve been sending each other.

I’m planning to read The Greatcoat late into the night. What about you?

  1. What a fabulous package! Hopefully your mystery sender will soon stop by to say hi. Enjoy your books, and I’m so glad you had fun with the swap 😀

Thank you for organising Ana. I’m certainly spoiled by the package and wish I had done something a little more extravagant for Iris. Next time!

The gifts look all so pretty! The chocolate pumpkins, the nail polish, the color coordinated wrapping papers. Lucky you! 🙂 Last time I joined the blogger Christmas swap I didn’t get anything from my secret Santa, which was very disappointing :(. It’s not that big of a deal I guess, but I have not joined another swap since then.

ps: I’m going to Audrey Niffenegger and the Night Circus author talk at Prince Charles Cinema on Halloween’s day 🙂

Oh, that’s a shame. Sometimes the postal system can be a bit crap… (I’m assuming the secret Santa did send something).

Oh, I’m so jealous you are going to the event! I loved The Night Circus and The Time Traveller’s Wife (I’ve got her second book but haven’t read it yet) and I’m sure it’s going to be a fabulous evening! Looking forward to reading about it!
